Still feeling kinda jet-legged from my flight....it sure feels good to be back in s`pore although there`s so much to be missed back in CHINA.I went there with an open-mind and I honestly enjoyed myself to the max. wat did i do there...wellz, pretty much, visiting relatives and slacking...enjoying the freezing breeze and eating non-stop !!imagine this, i`ve to wear bout 1 t-shirt, 1 long-sleeve and a jacket to sleep...but i juz wore short pants...Wat the hell sia !! ha ha......the place that i stay is entirely diff from the lifestyle in s`pore...very laid-back...now is winter so everyone juz stay at home and do nothing....Let`s start by talking bout my fav. topic....FOOD glorious FOOD !!!
this was the 1st meal that i ate upon reaching CHINA, it`s mee sua with duck meat..pork...eg..etc...very traditional...tey say muz finish coz it`ll bring good fortune...hope that`s true...
all sorts of exotic meat can be found there and the way they display the dishes are not at all appealing to my stomach....but the taste...hmm...yummy !!!We got to CHINA juz in time to celebrate my cousin`s son 1 mth old baby`s celebration...apparently, it`s a rather big affair in china if u`re a baby BOY, the whole freaking village i invited to celebrate and my gosh....I somehow feel more CHINA than s`porean for that moment...ha ha...i`ve got so many relatives there....counting by the 100s....
i`m serious....and the food they served was non-stop....dish after dish as though it was a wedding and it took more than 1/2 a day to finish all the dishes....The alcohol was cheap and the alcohol content is not as high as s`pore...3.5% for the average beer, TSING TAO BEER...my gosh...i drank till i dropped...Baby celebration is a big deal in the whole village and my dunnoe who would cook so much noodles and they`ll go and deliver to the 30 over families in the village and i juz tagged along to see wat`s going on.then the neighbours would pay a token as a form of good luck to the baby...i wonder if they can make a profit out of it...ha ha...shd be able la...Next.....let`s talk bout the people and cluture.....
Friendly people and i met so many relatives that are bout my age or younger and i`m their grand-UNCLE and great-grand uncle...shit...i really felt old !!this is a pix of my niece`s son, kai kai...u heard me correctly, my niece`s son...!! she`s 22 this yr and she already has 2 kids...this one is her younger kid...she`s kinda hot....shall not post the pix of her and let u all envy...hee hee....
here`s a pix of my 2 nephew and niece i think...too complicated...i know i`m their grand-uncle or something la....very nice kids...the gal on th right...i dunnoe her name but her older sis, 19 this yr is gonna be married to my s`pore counsin`s tuition teacher...ha ha...32 yrs old...WTF rite ??seems like u don`t have a say who u wanna marry and everything is planned for u since u were born....damn MCP place to grow up in if u`re a girl...but surprisingly, in CHINA, arranged marriages seems to be the way of life, no one goes on a date...they juz look at a pix of their future husband, say ok and then it`s settled...so simple...and it somehow works out.
people who look for their own b.f/g.f are destined to get disapproval from their parents and it always fail.....the 2 kids next to me are my s`pore nieces, rachael and geradine...and my dunnoe who in china la.those 2 gals are my fav. nieces...infront of their mum, they have to call me uncle but when their mum is not around...these cheeky girls call me kor kor...ha ha...i really dote on them during the trip...we spent so much time talking and hanging out...oh ya...the china niece of mine whom i presume her to be...she`s very smart and good in her studies...she`s 17..but haiz...she won`t get to study for long coz she`s gonna be married off soon...she knows wat`s going on but she can`t do anything coz she dun wanna disappoint her parents...who are my cousins...i really don`t see how happiness can be possible but it has been going on for generations so i guess we juz have to accept their culture...!!
there isn`t much entertainment in CHINA, be it day or night...it`s a boring yet relaxing palce to be...juz stare into the sky and day-dream...there`s this pool place that my cousins hang out...it`s not to a farm....it charged bout $1 for an hour of pool and the table is so so jia lat...also dunnoe how to play but everyone seems to be contented.i juz sat around and watch the farmers farm and how the cows tend to the field....u dun see this often in s`pore.i even sent my niece to school...she came to my room on thurs morning at 6am and asked me to acc her to sch so i thought it was a good idea. the school wasn`t far but the path to her sch resembled my ARMY FIELD CAMP...it was raining and i had to cross 2 vegetable farms with their cows and pigs roaming the field and cross a river juz to get to the school...my gosh...see how lucky we are in s`pore...???
I went to visit my ancestors HOME-GROUND....sounds like soccer...home and away...ha ah...it`s damn old and the furnitures are so antique....retro to be exact....
see the pix on top, the pix 2nd from left is my grandma......ROSE-MARY TAN...ha ha...thats her ang moh name...she rocks man !!
i miss her.....this old lady next to me is also my grandma but the CHINA side, she`s my grandma sis or something la....90 over yrs old and still freaking strong....she still farms and carry water everyday....everywhere we went, we could hear fire-works....kinda excited coz it was the 1st time seeing it right infront of my eyes...but as the days go by and more visiting came my way, i got sick and irritated by the loud noise...i took some video of it that i`ll post of youtube soon and show u all but in the meantime, juz imagine, the noise is so loud that prolong noise like ths will confirm hurt their ears.that is the reason why most of them like to talk so loudly, i bet they can hardly hear themselves...ha ha
we went to some island to see the MA ZHU statue...some god or something that protects the fishermen at sea but it was damn boring...ha ha...not interested in the statues but had to go coz my niece is p6 next yr so need to study and prepare for PSLE. pray to all the gods she can find there and hope she does well...ha ha...she`s a smart gal so i dun think she need devine intervention to do well la...ha ha...we came across this dog who was really pitiful, shivering in the cold but there`s nothing much we could do bout it coz hmm....ah ya, let`s juz face it. nothing ca be done...lol
we wanted to feed the dog but we couldn`t find any suitable...wanted to let it some water but nowhere sells...but this pix is one of my fav pix of them all.i took bout 165 pix in total...too many to post so i juz chose a few nice pix...!!!
lastly, the whole trip was an eye-opener except for the part whereby the CHINESE love to spit anywhere and everywhere...even in their own house....saliva can be found everywhere....and the girls have to clear for the man, in CHINA, it`s very simple logic...man work to earn money....woman clean the house and take care of the kids....thats all.so the men are really KING in china...dun really like this double standard but wat the hell....i`m juz glad i`m back to where i call home....too much to update and write...next time bah !!!
